Soupes, Palefroi

Soupes est une exposition du duo Palefroi, programmée en février 2024 au Studio Fotokino. Damien Tran et Marion Jdanoff y présentaient une grande série de peintures et dessins autour d'une cantine fictive dans laquelle les clients se rendent pour trouver des réponses à leurs questions...  Cette exposition donne aujourd'hui place à une édition éponyme, qui rassemble quelques œuvres présentées à cette occasion.

"C'est un petit restaurant de quartier qui fait des soupes. On n'y va pas pour manger, mais pour trouver des réponses : on s'assoit, on écrit notre question sur un petit bout de papier, on le plie, on le met dans une corbeille avec toutes les autres questions du jour. En cuisine, les réponses sont écrites au fond des bols. Quand on finit sa soupe, on découvre la réponse. C'est souvent celle de quelqu'un d'autre mais on fait avec."

Soup is an exhibition by the duo Palefroi, programmed in February 2024 at Studio Fotokino. Damien Tran and Marion Jdanoff presented a large series of paintings and drawings based on a fictional canteen where customers go to find answers to their questions. The exhibition has now been published in an eponymous edition, bringing together some of the works presented at the time.

"It's a little neighbourhood restaurant that makes soups. You don't go there to eat, but to find answers: you sit down, write your question on a small piece of paper, fold it up and put it in a basket with all the other questions of the day. In the kitchen, the answers are written on the bottom of the bowls. When you finish your soup, you discover the answer. It's often someone else's, but you get on with it.
